Still, if you do not have a corpse stockpile, you should be managing non-resident corpses inside by designating dump orders (considering they become forbidden at the beginning), otherwise they will most probably stay where they are and rot, create miasma. or you could just build this atom smasher inside and do not make the one outside, your choice. I also prefer this method for butcher workshops. the reason I construct it outside is mostly I forget that I have a dumping zone and they will rot in there and create miasma anyways inside the base.įor sieges, considering you cannot reach your atom smasher placed outside, if you are able to, dig hole from outside to right above your dumping zone inside place magma safe floor grate on top, that's how you can prevent miasma spreading inside, it will just find its way to the outside. link it with lever and there you have it: **atom smasher**. have a let's say 2x1 bridge constructed outside and create a dumping zone within its borders. from labor -> standing orders -> refuse section you can select dumping corpses. I personally don't use corpse stockpiles. Definitely helps with the spread.Įdit 2: Also somewhere in the labor menu are some settings about gathering refuse. Make sure you don’t have mixed food and non-food stockpiles as well so it ends up in the right place.Įdit: meat, fish, etc can rot in stockpiles I think? So that’s why I recommend a dedicated room and double putting a hallway with a door on either side as the entrance. Make sure you have space in the stockpile. If your dwarfs never haul make sure it’s on the “everyone does this” setting in the labor menu, or make sone dwarves only haulers. Same with meat, cheese, etc.įood doesn’t need bins necessarily but you should be trying to store in bins for the sake of space. I’d recommend double dooring it to stop miasma spread.ĭisable food and corpses and refuse if you have an “everything” stockpile.įood can and will rot in workshops. Kitfox Discord #modding-discussion channelīronzemurder and Oilfurnace (illustrated)įrom what I know, food stockpiles I think stop rotting, so always move your food to a food stockpile.Ĭorpse stockpiles often don’t work well because what you really want is a refuse stockpile specifically for dead creatures I think. A note from my experience, corpses and remains seem to deteriorate at a more rapid rate stacked onto each other than they do separate. It will help with decay and prevent idiots from running down there to get their heard smashed by dead vermin. If you used a pit make sure you have a refuse/corpse stockpile at the bottom. I find diagonal paths/corners block miasma way better than doors do however. To be less exploity, you may use doors and add some track and another track stop. "H" = Maintenance hatch (for pit access if necissary) Make sure to lock it. "X" = Destination whether it be a pit, volcano, magma, quantum stockpile, you name it.
